Instrumentalisation of traditions
Instrumentalising Traditions is a programme that hosts research projects proposing to analyse aspects of contemporary society (practices and discourses such as festivals, competitions, radio or TV shows) that can be directly linked to a rural cultural source. This opens up the possibility of analysing the reproduction of the field of ‘traditions’ and its meanings in contemporary society.
Research On national culture and its avatar, folklore. A study of the forms, metamorphoses and function of folklore as a field of media culture in Romania is carried out within this programme. It is a project that aims to highlight the mechanisms of constitution of the media field of folklore, the type of language that characterizes it, the stereotypes of narrative and specific image, and which involves a hard work of documentation in national and international archives, a specific approach detailed in the journal MARTOR (2019), or in the volume Archives and Knowledge (2020).
